We aim to support the work of the Commons Conservators to make Tunbridge Wells and Rusthall Commons a wonderful place to enjoy for generations to come.

We hope that this website will encourage all friends of Tunbridge Wells and Rusthall Commons to enjoy the commons, learn about their history, wildlife and plants - great and small management strategies, problems and solutions.

The Friends were set up in 1991 after the destruction caused by the Great Storm of 1987. Patrick Shovelton, now sadly passed, created the Friends to support the Commons Conservators in their work to restore them to their former glory. His aim was to raise public awareness of the importance of the Commons and the need to care for them. We hope you can help us continue the wonderful work that he started.
